Statewide support groups:

Indiana Home Educators' Network - an online resource which answers homeschooling questions, including "how can I get started". You can contact the support person for your particular county.
Indiana Association of Home Educators - Christian orientation. Provides assistance/networking for local indpendent support groups throughout Indiana; check their website for the Regional Representative for your area. Also, a website about sports groups that independent homeschool ggroups sponsor in the greater Indianapolis area.
Roman Catholic Home Educators of Indiana; website includes a support group locator.
Indiana Homeschoolers List is a networking list for homeschoolers in the state of Indiana. It is intended to link individual homeschoolers and provide information about support groups, activities, legal issues, and homeschooling news in general in the state. This is an inclusive list, open to homeschoolers of any religious belief or none, and any style of homeschooling. This is a very active list which includes a lot of extraneous information--heartwarming stories, political discussion, recipes, etc. For a more focused group, try the Indiana Homeschooling Only: An e-mail loop for Indiana Homeschoolers who want to post ONLY information about homeschooling, with particular emphasis on homeschooling in Indiana. Information on the politics of homeschooling (not general political talk); how to's; events; resources; support for members in need; all of this is welcome.

More online support: a bulletin board for homescoolers in Indiana, of all methods and philosophies. Also, a listing e-mail lists of various kinds for homeschoolers (special interest groups such as particular philosophies or religions or methods)--very helpful.

Indianapolis area:
Families Learning Together, an inclusive support group in greater Indianapolis. Contact Jill Whelan.
Near eastside area (close to Community Hospital East): Contact Renee for information about an inclusive support group in that area.
Pagan support group forming--currently meeting monthly for potluck dinners and conversation. Contact coordinator by e-mail; no website as yet.
Other communities:
LEARN e-mail loop, a moderated list for LEARN members only. Keep in touch with local concerns and late breaking news between newsletters.
Northeastern Indiana area newsgroup is starting, for anyone who "homeschools, schools at home, or home educates their child(ren)." This is an inclusive group, so all are welcome to discuss and share ideas regarding the education of their children. LIFE--Learning In a Family Environment.

If you didn't find a local support group above, here's advice on how to start your own.

Homeschool Social Register is a website that helps you find support in your geographic area. Only registered users can access the personal profiles; and personal profiles contain only the first name of the parent (or a pseudonym) and only as much information about the family as the parent wishes to give.

Foreign Languages
Heike Meya is a native German teacher who offers group classes and tutoring in German language instruction from preschool to middle school age children. Interactive and hands-on classroom activities create a fun environment for the kids to experience a new second language.
